Europa-Park Inaugurates New

Right in the heart of Silver Lake City at the Europa-Park Erlebnis-Resort, a new place of quiet has been created. On Saturday, June 27, 2026, the "Chapel San Antonio" was solemnly inaugurated in an ecumenical ceremony – already the fourth chapel on the resort grounds where the pastoral team of the "Church in Europa-Park" works together.

The ceremony took place in the presence of the Mack family. Bishop Prof. Dr. Heike Springhart of the Protestant Church in Baden and Dr. Thomas Dietrich from the Archiepiscopal Ordinariate of the Archdiocese of Freiburg led it together with deacons Andrea Ziegler and Thomas Schneeberger.

Former deacon Martin Lampeitl provided the music with his Country Band. Even at temperatures reaching 40 degrees Celsius, it created a real Western atmosphere around the bright white chapel.

With its striking facade, the chapel stands directly on the Main Road and forms the heart of the new Western town. Dedicated to Saint Anthony of Padua, patron saint of travelers, it will host baptisms, weddings and wedding anniversaries in the future. Outside of services it remains open to all guests – a calm counterpoint to the thrills of Silver Lake City.

At the same time, the pilgrimage event "Muschel in Europa" celebrated its 20th anniversary. The traditional hike from Ettenheim to Rust had to be cancelled because of the heat, but the Sunday program at the Hotel "Santa Isabel" went ahead as planned. A highlight was the keynote address by Bishop Prof. Dr. Heike Springhart.
