Europa-Park Opens “Kinderhaus Kleine Helden” – Families Rediscover Joy of Life After Cancer

On July 6, 2026, the new “Europa-Park Kinderhaus Kleine Helden” in Silver Lake City at the Europa-Park Resort was officially opened. The Mack family and DJ BoBo, who has taken on the patronage of the house, gave the official starting signal together. The ceremony was moderated by Wolfram Kons, board member of the “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e.V.”. Among the guests were Minister Marion Gentges and the mayor of Rust, Kai-Achim Klare. The first families have already moved in.

The “Europa-Park Kinderhaus Kleine Helden” is the central charity project Europa-Park launched in its anniversary year 2025. Together with the “Stiftung RTL Wir helfen Kindern e.V.”, the German Childhood Cancer Foundation in Bonn and the “Stelzenmännchen” support association from Karlsruhe, a unique house was created in the Western town of Silver Lake City. It offers five large, barrier-free apartments, each for a family of four. The five-day stay is completely free of charge and aims to give children who have overcome cancer – as well as their siblings and parents – new joy of life and help them return to everyday routines. The families are looked after on a voluntary basis by former Europa-Park employees. The German Childhood Cancer Foundation handles the professional selection of families, while “Stelzenmännchen” contributes over 37 years of experience in supporting affected families. Guests can enjoy the park’s attractions, the Rulantica water world, excursions to the Taubergießen nature reserve and offers such as the TALENT ACADEMY or YULLBE.

DJ BoBo, patron of the house, says: “It is a personal concern of mine to help families and children who have been through difficult times and are not on the sunny side of life. I have had a decades-long friendship with the Mack family and Europa-Park. I admire not only their enormous success but also the great social commitment of the entrepreneurial family. The children’s house is a brilliant idea that I am happy to support.”

Europa-Park owner Roland Mack is pleased with the first reactions: “Since the announcement of the ‘Europa-Park Kinderhaus Kleine Helden’, we have received exclusively positive feedback. The fact that the first families are now here and we can look into happy faces shows us: this project is a direct hit. Especially the cohesion within the family after the heavy burden of cancer is of great importance. The stay with us at Europa-Park, in the Rulantica water world and in the surroundings of the new Silver Lake City is meant to give them back their joy of life and help them return to normality. Not only the recovered child, but also siblings and parents have been through a great burden. Our goal is to further support healing through joy of life. A big thank you goes to everyone involved and our strong partners.”

The project was implemented in close cooperation with the “Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern e.V.”. Its board member Wolfram Kons emphasizes: “Together with Europa-Park in Rust, DJ BoBo and the Mack family, we can achieve a great deal. In the ‘Europa-Park Kinderhaus Kleine Helden’, families with seriously ill children receive new joy of life that will make a decisive contribution to the healing process. The Mack family has not only built an incredible entrepreneurial legacy, but has also shown a huge heart for so many children for many years. The ‘Stiftung RTL – Wir helfen Kindern’ is planning a long-term cooperation with Europa-Park. This will be a fantastic alliance of help.” Construction costs exceeded three million euros; ongoing costs are covered together with donors.

Families from Germany can apply online via the German Childhood Cancer Foundation. Requirements: The child must be between 4 and 16 years old, the acute treatment phase must be completed, and treatment must have ended no more than two years ago. From autumn onwards, families from additional countries will be eligible.
