Fright Nights 2026: Thorpe Park opens Tenement scare maze

The lights go out at Thorpe Park in Chertsey this Halloween. Fright Nights is back in October for the 25th year, and to mark it the Surrey park is sending guests into Tenement. The new scare maze is pitch-black. You get one shared flashlight, and that flashlight is failing.

Summer is over. Evenings are cooler. Halloween is next, and thousands will head back to Surrey when Fright Nights runs on selected days from Oct. 2 to Nov. 1 at Thorpe Park in Chertsey. Step into Tenement and you have to face the dark. Company is your own imagination, plus whatever is waiting in it.

Inside an abandoned tenement the power is dead. The tenants are gone. Every flicker of light shows something getting closer. When the light dies, guests get hunted and disoriented as they go deeper into a maze of reflections, illusions and sensory scares. In Tenement, turning on a light can be what gets you in trouble.

Ruth Storey, vice president at Thorpe Park, says: "We are so excited to reveal a Thorpe Park first to celebrate 25 years of Fright Nights: a fully immersive, pitch-black scare maze. Fright Nights is an iconic part of Halloween in the UK, and we love being able to bring our guests' nightmares to life through our award-winning lineup. This time we're playing on one of our most instinctive fears, the fear of the dark, and we can't wait to challenge our guests to confront what they can't see."

Tenement is not the only thing waiting in the park's shadows. The four scare mazes are back. Trailers returns with a new screening, Blood Red Roses. SuperSpark Cinema takes iconic horror nightmares and twists them into something far more sinister. Stitches opens Howell's Toy Emporium again. New toys are waiting to pull unsuspecting guests into the creepy collection. Survival Games drops guests back into a labyrinth of shifting paths. Assassins and brutal obstacles make getting out anything but certain. Fan favorite DeadBeat drags visitors into an underground nightclub, where every beat pulls partygoers closer to what's in the shadows.

Purgatory Town is back too, Thorpe Park's first speak-to-scare zone. New inhabitants are condemned to wander the streets, desperate to tell their stories to anyone who will listen. The Lord of Darkness himself puts on an unforgettable show in Lucifer's Lair. The Crows have left Mawkin Meadow and are ready to spread that silent terror across the park. Creature Campus: Reunion Reckoning lights old rivalries again in a high-energy live show. New for 2026, the Rebel Ball, sponsored by Fanta, takes over The Launch Pad for a night of music, dance and fire performances with wow factor.

Once the sun is gone, the big rides change. Guests can ride Hyperia after dark, the UK's fastest and tallest roller coaster, plus THE SWARM, SAW-The Ride, Stealth and Nemesis Inferno. Thorpe Park's biggest coasters take on a whole different atmosphere when night falls.
