Prince Albert II and Princess Charlene Officially Inaugurate New Monaco Themed Area at Europa-Park

The Europa-Park has a new star: the Monaco themed area. Just in time for the season opening in March, the glamorous principality with its famous buildings, the legendary Casino Monte-Carlo and Mediterranean gardens moved into Germany’s largest theme park. Now the 18th European themed area was officially inaugurated in a festive ceremony by the princely family in person – a special moment for all fans looking forward to authentic Côte d’Azur flair right in the heart of Rust.

On the invitation of the Mack family, around 250 guests gathered to celebrate this special day. Among them were His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco and Princess Charlene, Crown Prince Jacques and Princess Gabriella as well as Princess Stéphanie of Monaco. Also present were Parliamentary State Secretary Gitta Connemann from the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy and Federal Government Commissioner for SMEs, as well as Baden-Württemberg’s Minister for Rural Affairs, Agriculture and Homeland Marion Gentges. Prominent guests such as singer Ross Antony and football legend Berti Vogts completed the illustrious group.

In a heartfelt speech, Roland Mack thanked the princely family for their close cooperation: “I am very grateful for this friendly and valuable collaboration with H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and his family. The fact that we were able to deepen our cooperation with the princely house even further is a sign of our great mutual trust. Europa-Park thrives on exactly these strong partnerships that have always shaped our family business. I am particularly proud that H.S.H. Prince Albert II of Monaco and his family did not want to miss the opportunity to come to Europa-Park today to officially inaugurate the 18th European themed area. Monaco is one of Europe’s most remarkable destinations and I am delighted that visitors can now experience the Mediterranean flair of the Côte d’Azur and the impressive history of the principality here in Rust as well this season.”

Prince Albert II was equally enthusiastic: “I am extraordinarily happy that I may inaugurate this new Monegasque themed area at Europa-Park together with my wife Princess Charlene and our children. It is a great joy for all of us to find the numerous emblematic buildings of Monaco here and to feel the spirit of our principality, which has been wonderfully recreated by the Mack family and their team. Thanks to this implementation, which has exceptional quality, numerous visitors can discover something of the uniqueness that defines us. We extend our thanks to everyone who made this partnership possible, especially the Mack family, and congratulate you on this impressive result.”

State Secretary Gitta Connemann also emphasized the importance of the new area: “Europa-Park connects people and cultures. Across borders. With the new Monaco themed area, the Mack family once again succeeds in doing so. Monaco stands for openness to the world and international radiance. But also for tradition and identity. This combination makes Europe strong. Open to new things. Rooted in its history. Europa-Park makes exactly that tangible – right in the heart of Rust in Baden. Today’s inauguration sends a strong signal: for hospitality, for lived European solidarity and entrepreneurial spirit. The new themed area represents a significant investment – for jobs, for SMEs in the region and for Germany as a tourism destination. Europa-Park is therefore also an economic engine. Congratulations to the Mack family and everyone involved on this stellar moment.”

After the official speeches, the guests were able to enjoy numerous show performances and a varied supporting program in an atmosphere entirely in keeping with the Monegasque way of life. An absolute highlight and a special surprise for Prince Albert II and his family was the unveiling of the “Place Grimaldi de Monaco”. The beautiful forecourt in the heart of the new themed area will henceforth bear the name of the Grimaldi dynasty and underscores the close friendly relations between the Mack family and the princely family. Prince Albert II expressed his deep gratitude for this gesture of recognition. The concept for the new themed area was already developed in close coordination with the princely house in order to create the most authentic experience possible for visitors.

Another highlight is the role of circus arts, which have a great tradition both in Monaco and at Europa-Park. Last winter season, guests were already able to experience the cooperation with the world-famous Monte Carlo Circus Festival. The circus will once again be a guest at Europa-Park in the coming winter season as well. For the inauguration of the Monegasque themed area, there was therefore a special circus parade with exciting performances, enriched by “Les Clowns en Folie” from Monaco.

To crown the evening, guests were able to enjoy an exciting ride on the steel coaster Silver Star – passing through the new exotic garden inspired by the “Jardin Exotique” in Monaco.

With the Monaco themed area, Europa-Park now brings a piece of the Côte d’Azur and the fascinating history of the principality directly to Rust. Fans can look forward to impressive architecture, Mediterranean ambiance and unforgettable experiences.
