It's official. On August 20, Stefan Mross stood with the Mack family in front of Magic Cinema 4D, in the French themed area at Europa-Park, and unveiled his own Walk of Fame star. The names next to him are Otto Waalkes, Sir Roger Moore and Franz Beckenbauer.
Europa-Park owner Roland Mack put the honor in plain words: "Stefan Mross is a great artist who, with his down-to-earth and authentic personality, has delighted an audience of millions for more than 20 years with the popular live show 'Immer wieder sonntags.' That is why this honor is more than deserved. What now binds us is not only a wonderful collaboration, but also a close friendship."
The Mack family had already given him the star as a symbolic gift for his 50th birthday last year. Now it has a permanent place in the park.
Mross does not talk about fame. He talks about the job: "At the core, Roland Mack and I have the same job. Our job is to make people happy, and for that I am grateful again and again. At the age of five I was at Europa-Park for the first time, and by now this place has become a second home for me. With my own star on the Walk of Fame, a dream is coming true for me."
Mack again, this time about Sunday morning: "I think he is a worthy representative on the Walk of Fame here with us at Europa-Park. Anyone who for so many years has delivered so many joyful messages on Sunday morning has earned getting a star and being honored. It is a sign of friendship, of appreciation, and for what he has done for Europa-Park and for the long-standing, wonderful collaboration."
Mross first walked through the gates in 1980, with his dad. He still sounds stunned: "For me this is absolute madness, because in 1980 I was at Europa-Park for the first time with my dad. Since then we have been allied, and for 22 years we have been very, very close with the Mack family. Good friends, we communicate almost every day. And that is an absolute honor for me when I think back to where I was at the age of five. I would be 51 now, that I am now getting a star of my own. That is an absolutely great honor for me. Thank you, thank you, thank you, Europa-Park."
