Fall 2026 at Magic Kingdom just got a hole in the itinerary. Tiana's Bayou Adventure shuts Monday, Nov. 2, 2026. Disney has officially announced a scheduled overhaul, the first extended one since the ride opened. Walt Disney World's operating calendar lists a December 2026 reopening. If you wanted the bayou in the pre-Christmas crush, take it off the list.
The dates are on the calendar on the Walt Disney World website. Tiana's Bayou General, the gift shop at the exit, closes with the attraction. Critter Co-Op stays open. This is routine work. The log flume replaced Splash Mountain in Frontierland on June 28, 2024, and has not had a proper, extended overhaul since.
It can use one. Since 2024, Tiana's Bayou Adventure has had reliability issues. The past two years brought stretches of unusually high downtime and days that ended early, plus shorter hours during a cold snap earlier this year. The calendar is the odd part. Disney in Orlando usually takes water rides down in January or February, when it is colder and the parks are quieter. Early November comes before that. Persistent Audio-Animatronic problems may have pulled the window forward.
December 2026 is still the expected return. Hoping it is back for the full Thanksgiving week and the rest of the holidays does not change the plan. If you visit while it is down, do not count on riding before December.
Frontierland makes the gap harder to ignore. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad came back in May after a long overhaul. East of the flume, construction of Piston Peak National Park continues on the old Rivers of America and Tom Sawyer Island footprint. Disney has said a new waterway will run past Tiana's Bayou Adventure toward the Frontierland boardwalk.
If you are heading to Walt Disney World this fall for early Christmas decor and seasonal parties, bake the closure into the day. Taking a major water ride offline in the cooler weeks is standard in Orlando. Kendall Waltz wrote for AllEars: "It's not unusual for water attractions to close in the cooler months for a much-needed overhaul. Last year there was no full overhaul with a set closure, but it closed early on several days to get the work done."
An early November window gives Imagineers and technicians time after a busy summer and Halloween to work through the flume mechanics, the animatronics and the ride systems. Fewer guests want to get soaked then anyway.
Princess Tiana is still around. She regularly greets guests at Princess Fairytale Hall in Fantasyland, with other Disney royalty. The lineup can change from day to day. Check My Disney Experience or ask a Cast Member outside the hall. For a guaranteed sit-down meeting, take the resort monorail to Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. The reimagined buffet at 1900 Park Fare has Tiana in her adventurer look, with Cinderella, Aladdin and Mirabel. An Advanced Dining Reservation is strongly recommended.
If you are in Magic Kingdom during the closure, point morning Lightning Lane and rope drop at other headliners. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad, Space Mountain or Seven Dwarfs Mine Train will carry the day from opening to the evening fireworks. Tiana's Bayou Adventure stays the missing piece through December 2026.
