Toverland opens its Halloween season Saturday, Oct. 3, with 17 family-friendly Halloween Days and 13 Halloween Nights. The big new addition is Entwined: The Maze, which the park calls Europe's largest Halloween Experience. It sits in seven hectares of corn at the edge of Toverland, hiding Twine End, a forgotten village that was once full of life. Ticket sales have begun.
Preparations are running at full speed. The corn already grows meters high into the sky. Nature has won. Time has stood still. Entwined: The Maze requires a separate ticket. Anyone who ventures down the narrow paths and past decaying buildings into the field has to keep the threat from the corn in sight. Among the rustling stalks wander those who could not escape. They demand only one thing: humanity. The daring stand up to the evil in the dense cornfields. Standing still is not an option. Anyone who stops literally becomes food for the eerie figures among the stalks. And there are still more new things that will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up.
When the vault in which Toverland stores all the less-good magic breaks open in the evening, 170 Scare Actors take over the park. After the Halloween Parade they take up residence in six free Scare Zones and six paid Haunted Experiences with different themes. Guests dance at the vampire ball, land in a circus full of crazed clowns, march among zombie warriors and walk through a forest full of witches. Halloween Nights carry an age recommendation of 12 and older. Dates are Oct. 3, Oct. 10, Oct. 17-19, Oct. 21-25, Oct. 31, and Nov. 1 and 7. On these evenings Toverland stays open until 11 p.m., including all attractions. At 10:45 p.m., every Halloween Night wraps up with a spectacular fireworks show that locks the figures back in the vault. When the vault breaks open, it is already too late. The darkest beings catch the scent of the guests' presence and occupy the six Haunted Experiences and the six free Scare Zones.
Anyone who does not want to miss a thing takes the All-in Fear Pass for 69.95 euros. The physical pass grants one-time access to all six Experiences through a faster line and opens an exclusive zone for the Halloween Parade. Single tickets for the Haunted Experiences are available in time slots, with prices from 6.50 to 13 euros per ticket. With a Toverland subscription, admission to Halloween Nights is free, and no reservation is needed. The motto stays short and in English: Discover your own fear!
Halloween Days aim at families with children 12 and under, with family-friendly scares, Halloween experiences and shows for the whole family. The Pumpkin Farm has been fully renewed this year. Visitors find thousands of pumpkins there and Halloween creations, or wander through Magisch Mais Mysterie, a maze full of nice surprises. For the littlest guests there is a clearly laid-out hay bale maze. Witches add extra magic with their witch pranks. Halloween specials wait in the restaurants and takeaways, and two Halloween shops are open. All attractions stay open, roller coasters included, among the autumn leaves. Toverland calls it the ideal family outing for the fall holidays. Costumes and makeup are allowed for children 12 and under, so no one mistakes actors and entertainers for little ghosts.
Halloween Days take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Oct. 3 and 4, Oct. 10 and 11, Oct. 17-25, Oct. 31, and Nov. 1, 7 and 8. Anyone who wants to celebrate Halloween but not really get scared should stick with the Days. In October and November, Halloween becomes the most exciting season at Toverland. During the day the recommendation is 12 and under. In the evening it is 12 and older. The last Halloween Night is Nov. 7. The Days run through Nov. 8. Who dares go to Twine End, and who would rather stay with the pumpkins during the day? Ticket sales have begun.
