Alton Towers to Open World's First Bluey Roller Coaster in 2026

The amusement park Alton Towers in the United Kingdom is planning to open the world's first Bluey roller coaster in spring 2026. This new attraction for younger guests will be themed around the popular animated series Bluey in CBeebies Land. The announcement highlights the growing popularity of the brand, which has captivated millions of fans worldwide since 2018.

New Bluey Attraction in CBeebies Land

The new Bluey roller coaster is designed specifically for young families and reflects the boundless energy of the main character. Alton Towers is currently keeping details such as the exact name, manufacturer, and precise opening date under wraps. The attraction complements the existing offerings in CBeebies Land, which already include a meet-and-greet with the Heeler family and a live stage show. CBeebies is the BBC's children's television network and the UK broadcaster for Bluey. The brand-new family roller coaster will open next spring in the park's CBeebies Land.

Voices on the Announcement

"I am thrilled to finally announce our new Bluey roller coaster in CBeebies Land at Alton Towers Resort - the world's first Bluey roller coaster," said Sabrina de Carvalho, Senior Vice President for Attractions in the UK at Merlin Entertainments. "We can't wait to welcome Bluey fans and young families from around the world to the resort," she added. "We are keeping the exact details and opening date secret for now, but Bluey's boundless energy will surely be reflected in our new roller coaster for younger guests." Natasha Spence, Events Director for Live Entertainment at BBC Studios, emphasized how Bluey has captured the hearts of children and adults and looks forward to the implementation of this first roller coaster. "The lovable and tireless Bluey has won the hearts of children and adults around the world, and we are delighted that our much-loved brand is getting its very first roller coaster at Alton Towers Resort," said Natasha Spence. "Together with the custom Bluey-themed hotel rooms at the resort, we can't wait to see fans enjoy the new attraction."

Bluey's Success Story

Bluey, the animated preschool series from Australia, has celebrated enormous successes since its launch in 2018. It is the most popular show on CBeebies in the United Kingdom and has been streamed more than 770 million times on BBC iPlayer. The series was created and written by Joe Brumm and produced by Ludo Studio for the Australian Broadcasting Corporation and BBC Studios.

Further Bluey Developments

The Bluey roller coaster follows other developments at Alton Towers Resort, including the opening of themed hotel rooms in May 2024. These rooms were introduced as part of the 10th anniversary celebrations of CBeebies Land. Additionally, the immersive experience world Bluey's World opened in Brisbane, Australia, in December.

Comparison with Other Plans

Although Disney Experiences announced plans last year to bring Bluey to its US theme parks and the Disney Cruise Line, these have so far been limited to character meet-and-greets with Bluey and Bingo on the Australia voyages of the Disney Wonder. Alton Towers is thus taking the lead with the first themed roller coaster for the Gen Alpha icon Bluey. Gen Alpha icon Bluey is getting her first theme park attraction next year. And it's not coming to a Disney theme park.
