Unlucky Nugget Saloon: Spooky Halloween at Disneyland Paris

During the Disney Halloween Festival, the Lucky Nugget Saloon at Disneyland Paris will offer a special experience. The iconic location in Frontierland will temporarily be renamed Unlucky Nugget Saloon and will closely link its story to that of Phantom Manor, whose eerie silhouette looms over the area. Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, in collaboration with the design and delivery teams, has created spooky decorations along with a mysterious sound and light atmosphere inspired by the attraction. The event runs from October 1 to November 2, 2025.

The Transformation of the Saloon

The transformation of the Lucky Nugget Saloon into the Unlucky Nugget Saloon will immerse guests in an abandoned, once-grand reception hall that was intended for a major celebration. In the story developed by the Imagineers, the restaurant was supposed to host a lavish event in honor of the Ravenswood family, one of Thunder Mesa's richest families, for the upcoming wedding of their daughter Melanie. However, the mysterious disappearance of her groom ended the festivities, and the celebration never took place. Like Ravenswood Manor, the saloon has mysteriously fallen into disrepair, to the point that the locals of Thunder Mesa call it the Unlucky Nugget. Nevertheless, the place will remain open to curious guests, but beware — it promises to be a ghostly experience.

The Creative Process of the Atmosphere

Thomas Levert, graphic designer at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, describes the creative process: “To create the atmosphere in the Unlucky Nugget Saloon for this Halloween season, it seemed only natural to draw inspiration from the most famous estate in Thunder Mesa. We wanted to reflect the characteristic style and essence of Phantom Manor through festively doomed decorations, an eerie lighting mood, and a soundtrack that draws from the iconic melodies of the attraction — specially rearranged for the occasion. We also drew inspiration from Victorian weddings, where fabric banners, flower arrangements, and ornate graphic elements were abundant, to faithfully recreate this ‘celebration.’” Many references to the Phantom Manor attraction will be scattered throughout the Unlucky Nugget Saloon, especially on the central stage, which will feature the table for the guests of honor, a portrait of the beautiful Melanie Ravenswood, and an extraordinary wedding cake inspired by Victorian confections.

Special Details in the Decoration

One special detail highlighted by Thomas Levert: “A detail I particularly love is the silhouette of Phantom Manor on top of the cake. It clearly shows how the Lucky Nugget Saloon went all out to honor the richest man in town by celebrating his daughter's wedding. If you look closely at the decorations, there's another detail I especially like: The name of Melanie Ravenswood's groom is never visible. The mystery remains unsolved! In fact, the four menus on the main table are a perfect example — the groom's name is always crossed out, just like the four missing suitors.” These elements will enhance the mysterious mood and invite guests to explore the intricacies of the decorations.

The Adapted Menu

In addition to the eerie atmosphere, the Unlucky Nugget Saloon will offer an adapted menu that perfectly fits the story. Isabelle Soltys, producer at Walt Disney Imagineering Paris, explains the collaboration: “When we presented our Unlucky Nugget Saloon project to the chefs, they were thrilled and immediately began rethinking the restaurant's offerings — they designed a menu with ingredients that fit our story. It's wonderful to receive such strong support to make our experience even more immersive!” The cooperation between the Imagineers and the food and beverage teams will ensure a culinary experience that underscores the spooky theme.

The Experience for Guests

Fans of eerie atmospheres and Phantom Manor enthusiasts can enjoy this limited-time experience at the Unlucky Nugget Saloon during the Disney Halloween Festival at Disneyland Paris. Thomas Levert sums it up: “I hope that guests, when dining at the Unlucky Nugget Saloon, appreciate the mysterious atmosphere and take the time to admire the decorations and their details. We want them to feel like part of the cursed Ravenswood celebration — and part of the Thunder Mesa story.” He concludes with a mischievous smile: “One thing is certain — in this restaurant, guests will have the creepy feeling . . . that they are not alone.”
