Efteling and Loon op Zand Sign Heritage Agreement for Sustainable Protection

Efteling fans know exactly where the magic of this park comes from: its stories, its special places and a tradition that spans many decades. Great news is arriving from the Netherlands. The Municipality of Loon op Zand and Efteling have signed an official cooperation agreement that will significantly strengthen collaboration on preserving and developing cultural heritage.

With the new agreement, both partners want to work even more closely together. They will share knowledge, improve processes and sustainably protect the park’s rich heritage – always in close coordination with municipal heritage policy. This means heritage issues can be addressed faster, more transparently and with greater care in the future.

Alderman Marc Budel explains: “The collaboration and the agreement with Efteling stem from the Nota Erfgoed recently adopted by the municipal council. We want to cooperate more and in a more structured way with important partners in the field of heritage and storytelling.”

Efteling Director Fons Jurgens also highlights the importance for the park’s future: “Sustainability plays an important role in our Vision 2030. This also includes careful handling of our cultural heritage. Efteling is living heritage: We preserve the stories, memories and the places that belong to them and develop them thoughtfully for future generations. With this agreement we will remain in structured dialogue with the municipality, with which we have a historical connection.”
