Jürgen Mack Named Honorary Citizen of Rust: High Honor for Europa-Park Owner

Europa-Park owner Jürgen Mack has received a rare and special honor. The longtime managing director has been named an honorary citizen of Rust – a distinction the municipal council unanimously approved. Only a handful of people have ever been granted this recognition.

In his speech, Mayor Dr. Kai-Achim Klare particularly praised Jürgen Mack’s decades of entrepreneurial dedication. Thanks to his work, the small community of Rust has grown into an internationally respected tourism destination, with Europa-Park serving as the “engine of the municipality’s economic success.” As managing director, Mack established key foundations in human resources, finance and controlling that have ensured the family business’s long-term growth and stability.

The mayor also highlighted Mack’s exceptional negotiation skills and tireless commitment, without which the success of the Europa-Park Erlebnis-Resort simply wouldn’t have been possible. In addition, he paid tribute to the social engagement of Jürgen and Mauritia Mack. For the family, business success and social responsibility have always gone hand in hand – whether supporting refugees, backing local projects or their longstanding involvement with clubs and church initiatives.

Deeply moved by the honor, Jürgen Mack expressed his gratitude: “This award means a great deal to me and fills me with immense thankfulness. For us, Rust has become home over the past 38 years and a place full of opportunities where ideas take shape that captivate visitors from around the world while benefiting the entire region. It stands for the close bond our family has built with the municipality of Rust.”

He also thanked his wife Mauritia for her wise counsel and his children Frederik and Alexia for their decision to carry on the family business in the eighth generation together with the family of his brother Roland Mack.

With this appointment, Jürgen Mack becomes one of only five people ever to receive honorary citizenship from the municipality of Rust. His father Franz Mack and his brother Dr.-Ing. h.c. Roland Mack were previously honored in the same way.
