Lars Krogh Celebrates 40 Years at LEGOLAND Billund

On December 5, 2025, Lars Krogh will celebrate his 40th anniversary at LEGOLAND Billund. The electronics technician started his career at the park as a 15-year-old and has since brought countless attractions to life. From Miniland to international projects, he has significantly shaped the theme park's technology.

Current Role and Passion for Technology

Today, Lars Krogh holds the title of "Animation & Electrical Manager." Even after 40 years building control systems, he finds nothing routine or boring about the work. He has always been fascinated by controls and by making different elements work together—to blink, light up, or move. That's why, even after many years on the job, he still finds the projects he works on exciting and challenging.

Despite the focus on technology, Lars highlights his colleagues, the strong sense of community, and—above all—the helpfulness that prevails in all departments as some of the best parts of his job.

Expertise in Miniland and Smaller Attractions

Over the years, Lars Krogh has worked intensively with Miniland and the park's smaller attractions. He knows every corner of this iconic area like the back of his hand—perhaps even better. He was involved in coordinating, building, and maintaining electronics and controls for most elements in Miniland, including systems that help make cars and trains run. His most recent projects include the new areas featuring Aarhus and the Fehmarnbelt Fixed Link.

International Adventures in Other LEGOLAND Parks

His work as an electronics technician has taken Lars Krogh far beyond the borders of LEGOLAND Billund. In 1995, he helped produce major parts of a new Miniland section for LEGOLAND Windsor, which he then installed in the park in England. Two years later, LEGOLAND California was next to get a Miniland, and Lars was seconded there for half a year to assist with the project. The same story repeated with Miniland for LEGOLAND Deutschland in 2002, where Lars was also seconded for six months.

In addition, Lars was involved in developing the controls behind the DUPLO Express attraction for other LEGOLAND parks and, in that context, traveled to, among other places, Japan and Florida to help with the installation.

Entry into the LEGOLAND World

More than 40 years ago, Lars Krogh began his journey at LEGOLAND Billund. In 1982, the then-15-year-old was hired as a seasonal worker with the "Fejern" and later immersed himself in the park's diverse activities. These early experiences laid the foundation for a long-term connection to the theme park.

Training and Permanent Entry

Parallel to his job at LEGOLAND Billund, Lars Krogh studied to become an electronics technician, earning his degree in 1988. Shortly thereafter, he received a permanent position in the "Technical Operations" department. Since then, he has been a steadfast part of that team, dedicating himself to the maintenance and coordination of technical systems.

Private Life in Billund

Privately, Lars Krogh grew up in Billund and still lives in the town today. He shares his life there with his wife Marlene, with whom he has two grown daughters. In his free time, he enjoys gardening, among other things, and also likes listening to a good audiobook.

The Anniversary in the Community

Lars Krogh's 40th anniversary will be celebrated with an open reception on Friday, December 5, at 11:00 a.m. in the Multihuset in the conference area of Hotel LEGOLAND.
