Plopsaland Deutschland Opens with New Attractions in 2025

On June 28, 2025, Plopsaland Deutschland in Haßloch celebrates its grand opening and rebranding from Holiday Park with a spectacular premiere event. New attractions like “Die Schlümpfe Abenteuer,” the “Blinky Bill” themed area, and the “Plopsa Festival Parade” promise unforgettable family fun.

Grand Opening Marks a Milestone

Plopsaland Deutschland, formerly Holiday Park, will open under its new name on June 28, 2025, with a vibrant premiere event. Since its acquisition by the Plopsa Group in 2010 and investments of 50 million euros, the park has become a key member of the European Plopsa family. Carl Lenaerts, CEO of the Plopsa Group, states: “The Plopsa Group is focused on strategically expanding in the German market. The rebranding to Plopsaland Deutschland is part of a comprehensive investment and future plan, making it one of the most exciting transformation projects in the theme park industry.” With an additional 100 million euros planned by 2028, the Plopsa Group aims to establish Haßloch as a leading multi-day family destination in Europe.

Immersive Family Attractions

On opening day, “Die Schlümpfe Abenteuer” will debut in the historic Burg Falkenstein, offering one of Europe’s most immersive family rides. The elaborately designed Smurf world features a captivating storyline and a continuous gondola system, providing a five-minute experience for families and adults alike. Simultaneously, the “Blinky Bill” themed area will open in the former Expedition GeForce basecamp. Three new attractions centered around the Koala bear, popularized by the children’s channel KiKA, target young children and families, inviting them on an Outback adventure. This area has been operational since April 5, 2025.

Vibrant Shows and Parades

Starting June 28, the “Plopsa Festival Parade” will bring daily excitement with Plopsa characters like Biene Maja, Wickie, Holly, Blinky Bill, Tabaluga, Heidi, and the Schlümpfe. Performing as dancers and entertainers on colorful floats, they create a festive atmosphere, accompanied by original music that culminates in a joyful finale on the main stage. Also premiering on opening day, “Die Schlümpfe Show” will take place in the Plopsa Indoor Theater. This 20-minute live show delivers music, fun, and magic for families, promising an engaging adventure.

New “100% Wolf” Family Coaster

In fall 2025, the “100% Wolf” family coaster, inspired by the animated film of the same name, will open. The 760-meter track, reaching a height of 17.5 meters and a top speed of 55 km/h, features a “spike” element where trains reverse at an open track end. With three trains and a capacity of approximately 1,000 riders per hour, the coaster targets families with children.

Megacoaster with Tomorrowland Theme

From 2026, construction will begin on a new megacoaster to complement the iconic “Expedition GeForce.” Featuring unique elements like launch sections, rotating cars, and inversions, the ride will include a thematic design developed in collaboration with the world-renowned Tomorrowland festival. This thrilling addition is set to make rollercoaster history.

Plopsaqua and Partner Hotels

Construction of “Plopsaqua Haßloch” will start in fall 2025, with an opening planned for 2028. The modern water park will offer weather-independent family experiences and attract new audiences. The expansion of the partner hotel program will further enhance the resort, positioning Plopsaland Deutschland as a year-round destination in Rheinland-Pfalz.

Economic and Tourism Impact

The Plopsa Group’s investments boost the regional economy through job creation and partnerships with local businesses. Bernd Beitz, Director Germany of the Plopsa Group, emphasizes: “With Studio 100’s global activities and the seven other Plopsa parks, we offer a unique entertainment portfolio in the heart of Europe.” Employing 500 staff in the 2025 season, including 100 permanent positions, and welcoming 800,000 visitors in 2024, the park drives economic growth. Across the Plopsa Group, 3.5 million visitors were recorded in 2024.

Historical Development

Since its founding in 1970 as Pfälzer Märchenpark on 70,000 square meters, the Haßloch site has evolved significantly. Renamed Holiday Park in 1973, it introduced milestones like Europe’s first 180-degree cinema in 1978, the “Superwirbel” steel coaster with inversions in 1979, “Expedition GeForce” in 2001, and joined Plopsa in 2010. Other notable additions include “Donnerfluss” in 1984, Burg Falkenstein in 1987, “Majaland” in 2012, “Sky Scream” coaster in 2014, “The Beach” themed area in 2017, “Dino Splash” in 2020, and “Wickieland” in 2021. Today, the park spans 400,000 square meters, offering over 60 attractions, shows, and meet-and-greets, with 178 operating days in the 2025 summer season.
