Toverland Replaces Maximus’ Blitz Bahn with New Swinging Bobsled

Toverland is saying goodbye to one of its classic attractions and introducing a new, exciting ride to the Wunderwald area. Maximus' Blitz Bahn will be replaced by an innovative new ride — a swinging bobsled. Fans of the interactive bobsled ride have until May 17, 2026, to enjoy it one last time before the current attraction makes way for the modern successor, scheduled to open during the 2026/2027 winter season.

Developed in close cooperation with Dutch manufacturer ETF Ride Systems from Nederweert, the new swinging bobsled will retain the most popular features of the original ride. Every visitor will be able to control the speed of their vehicle. "After eleven years of intensive use, it is necessary to replace the current Maximus' Blitz Bahn," explains Roy Janssen, Toverland's Senior Manager of Technology and Projects. "Because we cherish bobsledding at Toverland, we looked for a replacement attraction that preserves the popular characteristics of the Blitz Bahn."

Rather than racing over curved bobsled tubes, the new vehicles will run on a traditional roller coaster track. The existing layout, including the protective roof, will remain intact, enabling the attraction to operate independently of the weather. A special highlight is the banked curves: The track tilts inward at the turns, promising a significantly smoother and more intense ride.

Additionally, guests will enjoy brand new vehicles in the form of large bobsleds that seat two people, one behind the other. Depending on the speed, the cars will swing out dynamically at certain points, offering even more action and variety. Guests will still be able to control the speed with levers, and a minimum speed will ensure higher capacity and shorter waiting times.

The swinging bobsleds will be seamlessly integrated into the Wunderwald themed area, home to eccentric inventor Maximus Müller’s crazy creations. The vehicles will feature an appropriate steampunk design. The exact name of the new attraction and further storytelling details will be revealed at a later date.

To celebrate the end of the old Maximus' Blitz Bahn, Toverland is planning a festive farewell party on May 17, 2026, full of "stimmung und spaß." The inventor Maximus Müller himself will be there, too.
