Universal Studios Florida January 2026: Only 28.4% Crowds – Gringotts Dominates

January 2026 will go down as one of the most relaxed months in recent memory at Universal Studios Florida. With an average crowd level of just 28.4 percent and average wait times of 22.7 minutes, the park offered excellent conditions for fans wanting to enjoy the attractions without massive crowds.

The month started on January 1 with 29.5 percent capacity and a 24.8 minutes average wait. The quietest day was January 13, with an incredibly low 7.8 percent and only 12.9 minutes average wait. The peak was recorded on January 17 with 61.0 percent (slightly elevated) and 37.4 minutes average wait.

On the holidays — New Year's Day, Lee-Jackson Day, and Martin Luther King Jr. Day — the average crowd level stayed at a comfortable 28.2 percent. Weather had a limited impact: Days with more than a 15 percent rain chance saw 27.2 percent crowds, and dry days 28.9 percent. Colder days below 15 °C were slightly busier at 30.6 percent compared to warmer days above 22 °C at 26.5 percent.

A clear weekly pattern emerged. Saturdays were the busiest, with 44.6 percent (moderate) and a 30.3 minutes average wait. Wednesdays were the quietest at 16.8 percent, followed by Thursdays at 20.7 percent. Mondays came in at 35.7 percent, Fridays at 29.3 percent, and Sundays at 28.2 percent.

Hourly crowds built from 14.2 percent at 9:00 a.m. to 37.3 percent at 6:00 p.m., with peak wait times around 4:00 p.m. (up to 28.3 minutes park-wide).

Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™ was the undisputed wait-time leader with a monthly average of 54.6 minutes. On Saturdays, waits climbed to 80.8 minutes, with heatmap peaks up to 117.5 minutes at 4:00 p.m. The best times for this flagship ride were early morning, between 8:00 and 10:00 a.m. (under 40 minutes) and after 8:00 p.m. (under 35 minutes). Revenge of the Mummy™ averaged 36.3 minutes (54.5 minutes on Saturdays with peaks to 89.6 minutes at 4:00 p.m.), with its Single Rider line staying rock-solid at 5.0 minutes. Despicable Me Minion Mayhem™ came in at 31.8 minutes, with morning peaks up to 52.0 minutes on Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and much shorter waits after 8:00 p.m. TRANSFORMERS™ The Ride-3D averaged 28.9 minutes (strong Saturday reaction at 33.2 minutes, Monday 6:00 p.m. peak at 57.3 minutes, but steadier on Wednesdays at 26.5 minutes). Hogwarts™ Express – King's Cross Station reached 27.4 minutes with clear afternoon peaks from 2:00 p.m. onward and up to over 66 minutes on Saturdays at 5:00 p.m., while the sweet spot was 8:00–12:00 a.m. under 12 minutes.

Fast & Furious – Supercharged™ averaged 19.3 minutes (Single Rider steady at 7.5 minutes), MEN IN BLACK™ Alien Attack!™ 18.5 minutes with Saturday peaks to 39.7 minutes at 4:00 p.m., E.T. Adventure™ 24.6 minutes, and The Simpsons Ride™ 24.5 minutes. Family favorites like Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast stayed at just 7.2 minutes, Trolls Trollercoaster at 16.7 minutes, and Kang & Kodos' Twirl 'n' Hurl at 13.4 minutes across all crowd levels with minimal fluctuations.

Wait times at the top attractions correlated directly with daily crowd levels, with Gringotts and Revenge of the Mummy showing the biggest deltas on days above 40 percent. Attractions such as Illumination's Villain-Con Minion Blast, Single Rider options, and Kang & Kodos' Twirl 'n' Hurl remained under 15 minutes even on moderate days.

On days with minimal to very low crowds (under 20 percent), park-wide waits dropped below 15 minutes, attractions were near walk-ons, and pathways felt delightfully open. The most efficient days, measured by wait-to-crowd ratio, were January 13 as well as typical Wednesdays and Thursdays with very low attendance.

Optimal park-wide time windows were the first two hours after opening (8:00–10:00 a.m.) and after 8:00 p.m. For Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts™, the sweet spots were especially 8:00–10:00 a.m. and 9:00–10:00 p.m. For Despicable Me Minion Mayhem™ and Hogwarts™ Express – King's Cross Station, early mornings and late evenings proved ideal. Single Rider at Revenge of the Mummy™ and Fast & Furious – Supercharged™ delivered the shortest waits of 5.0 and 7.5 minutes, respectively, on higher-crowd days. Pathways remained open and spacious even on moderate days throughout every land.
