Greenery and Immersion: The New Landscape Design of Disney Adventure World

In just a few days, coinciding with the renaming of Walt Disney Studios Park to Disney Adventure World on March 29, a particularly green highlight will debut: The park’s new landscape design takes nature and storytelling to a whole new level. While the North Mountain in World of Frozen remains permanently covered in snow, spring is bursting into life everywhere else, creating a vibrant and natural backdrop for unforgettable adventures.

The green journey starts right at the entrance to Adventure Way — a peaceful, plant-lined “Main Street” that offers the perfect transition from the show worlds of World Premiere Plaza to the exciting adventures waiting around Adventure Bay. Nature acts as the connecting thread between the different themed areas. A double row of trees, illuminated by thousands of lights in the evening, frames beautiful gardens: from the playful Toy Story Garden with its geometric topiaries to the elegant Gazebo Garden with its pavilion and bronze statues, and the romantic Tangled Garden with its reflecting pond. A garden inspired by the Pixar classic “Up” will soon complete the avenue.

More than 1,500 new trees plus hundreds of thousands of shrubs and bushes have been planted to create genuine immersion. “From the tallest 17-meter oak tree to the smallest flower, every scale must be carefully considered,” explains Marc Boulanger, Landscaping Superintendent at Walt Disney Imagineering.

Like a living curtain, the lush vegetation opens up along Adventure Way, gradually revealing the stunning Adventure Bay and its nearly three-hectare central lake. This lake serves as the heart of the park – much like Central Plaza in Disneyland Park – and creates smooth transitions between the lands through thoughtful planting: a dense woodland feel bordering Worlds of Pixar, urban elegance along the restaurant promenade, wet meadows leading toward the future Lion King area, and rugged rocky terrain near World of Frozen. The Gleditsia trees in front of the Lion King Land are especially well done, their soft silhouettes evoking a savannah-like atmosphere.

The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge blends beautifully into the green surroundings with its elegant Art Nouveau design. Adventure Bay itself has been designed as a large open-air theater, with tiered terraces offering thousands of guests the best possible view of the new nightly show, “Disney Cascade of Lights.”

Nature also plays a major role in World of Frozen. Lush vegetation and Norwegian fjord-inspired landscapes meet the more restrained planting in Arendelle’s forecourt, where roses and perennial geraniums echo the kingdom’s crocus emblem while ensuring good guest flow.

From the blooming gardens of Adventure Way to the forests of Arendelle and the snow-covered North Mountain – in Disney Adventure World, nature has become the central element of true immersion, making every visit even more magical and intense for Disney fans.
