Rose au Bois Dormant Unveiled at Disneyland Hotel Paris

In the rose garden of the Disneyland Hotel at Disneyland Paris, the “Rose au Bois Dormant” has been blooming since the hotel’s reopening in 2024. This unique rose, with its fragrance and color reflecting the hotel’s elegant ambiance, was created exclusively for the property. Its development stemmed from a collaboration with Roseraie Ducher, one of France’s oldest rose breeders.

Exquisite Rose for the Disneyland Hotel

The “Rose au Bois Dormant” captivates with its intense yet delicate fragrance and a hue reminiscent of the Disneyland Hotel’s iconic facade. Over one hundred bushes of this distinctive rose have been planted in the hotel’s rose garden, enchanting guests with their beauty and scent. The variety stands out for its longevity, remaining fresh in bouquets for an extended period, and combines rare aesthetic refinement with a captivating fragrance that enhances the hotel’s magical atmosphere.

Celebratory Unveiling in the Rose Garden

The unveiling of the “Rose au Bois Dormant” marked a highlight of the project. During a ceremony in the rose garden, attended by Mickey and Minnie alongside Fabien and Florence from Roseraie Ducher, the rose’s name was officially announced. The event celebrated the successful partnership between Disneyland Paris and the renowned rose breeder. Guests are invited to admire the rose’s beauty in the garden and experience the elegant blend of French craftsmanship and Disney magic.

Collaboration with Roseraie Ducher

The rose’s development involved close collaboration with Roseraie Ducher, a company established near Lyon since 1845. “We chose Roseraie Ducher because they are one of France’s oldest and most prestigious rose breeders. Their family expertise, passed down through generations, is recognized worldwide,” said Hélène Chaupin, Senior Manager of Hotel Product Development. Following extensive research and discussions, Roseraie Ducher emerged as the ideal partner to create a rose that embodies the excellence of French craftsmanship combined with the creativity of Disneyland Paris.

The Hybridization Process

The creation of the “Rose au Bois Dormant” began over one and a half years before the Disneyland Hotel’s reopening in 2024. Through hybridization, the deliberate crossing of two different rose varieties, Fabien and Florence from Roseraie Ducher developed a new cultivar. This process, mimicking the work of bees, resulted in a rose with an exceptionally intense fragrance and a rare coloration. Teams from Walt Disney Imagineering and horticulture worked closely together to seamlessly integrate the rose bushes into the hotel’s rose garden, where they now delight guests.

A Moving Creation Journey

The development of the “Rose au Bois Dormant” was more than a botanical endeavor - it was a testament to human passion and craftsmanship. Fabien and Florence of Roseraie Ducher brought decades of expertise to carefully cultivate the rose in their fields. “Watching Fabien explain the crossing process and seeing this magnificent rose bloom is truly moving. It’s an unforgettable experience,” a project team member shared. The Disneyland Paris teams take pride in this unique rose, crafted specifically for the hotel, now enhancing the rose garden and captivating guests with its splendor.
