Efteling’s Hooghmoed Freefall Ride to Open in 2026

In the Efteling theme park, a new freefall attraction named Hooghmoed will open next to the popular Baron 1898 dive coaster in summer 2026. Construction will begin after this summer. Theming tied to Baron 1898, this family-friendly ride broadens the park’s appeal in the Netherlands.

Hooghmoed targets visitors who find Baron 1898 too intense or don’t meet its 1.32-meter height requirement. With a capacity of 600 guests per hour, it offers an accessible experience for families and younger visitors. Its smaller scale ensures a gentler adventure while maintaining the area’s immersive atmosphere.

Expanding the Baron Universe

Hooghmoed builds on the Baron 1898 storyline, where guests play miners extracting gold for Baron Gustave Hooghmoed. In this new ride, visitors take on the role of “chimney sweeps” within the same universe. This narrative link creates a cohesive experience, enhancing the theming around Baron 1898.
