Construction of the Europa-Park Little Heroes Children's House in Silver Lake City at Europa-Park Resort is advancing rapidly. Following the topping-out ceremony, interior work has now begun. Project ambassador Miriam Mack has confirmed that the opening remains firmly scheduled for summer 2026.
During a recent site visit, project patron DJ BoBo and ambassador Miriam Mack were updated on the latest progress. A unique retreat is taking shape in the new Western-themed area, with five spacious apartments, each designed to accommodate a family of four that includes a child who has overcome cancer and is reintegrating into everyday life.
The Europa-Park Little Heroes Children's House is a joint initiative of Europa-Park, the RTL Foundation – We Help Children, the German Childhood Cancer Foundation in Bonn, and the nonprofit Stelzenmännchen association in Karlsruhe. It is the centerpiece of the charity projects Europa-Park launched during its 50th anniversary year in 2025.
Swiss musician and international star DJ BoBo, known as the “King of Dance,” has assumed patronage of the house. “It is a cause very close to my heart to help families and children who have gone through hard times and are not on the sunny side of life,” he said. A decades-long friendship ties him to the Mack family and Europa-Park. He admires not only their remarkable success but also the family’s deep social commitment. “This children's house is a brilliant idea that I am happy to support.”
Europa-Park owner Roland Mack explained: “In our anniversary year, we decided—alongside many other social initiatives—to create a permanent facility for families facing heavy burdens.” The target group is families with children who are slowly returning to normal life after intensive cancer treatment. The five-day stay at Europa-Park and Rulantica aims to restore a sense of joy and normalcy for the recovered children, their siblings, and their parents. Family cohesion is particularly important after the strain of cancer therapy; not only the recovered child but also siblings and parents have endured great hardship. “Our goal: to further support healing through joy,” Mack added. The stay is provided entirely free of charge. Retired Europa-Park employees volunteer to care for the families, with professional support from the German Childhood Cancer Foundation.
The project is being realized in close collaboration with the RTL Foundation – We Help Children, which—together with numerous donors—will cover the families’ accommodation costs for years to come. Construction costs alone exceed three million euros. Since 1996, the RTL Foundation has donated more than 300 million euros to thousands of children's aid projects. The Little Heroes Children's House was highlighted as one of the featured initiatives during the annual RTL telethon hosted by Wolfram Kons.
Wolfram Kons, chairman of the RTL Foundation – We Help Children, emphasized: “Together with Europa-Park in Rust, DJ BoBo, and the Mack family, we can achieve so much.” The children's house will offer families of children who have overcome cancer a renewed sense of joy in life, which significantly aids the healing process. The Mack family has not only built an extraordinary entrepreneurial legacy but also shown enormous heart for children over many years. The foundation plans long-term cooperation with Europa-Park. “This will be a fantastic alliance of help.” Numerous companies and celebrities have pledged support for this flagship charitable project of Europa-Park.
