Rulantica kicked off February 2026 with wonderfully quiet days – giving fans a perfect example of how relaxed a winter visit to the Nordic water world can truly be. Those who came at the beginning of the month enjoyed nearly empty slides and wait times sometimes under two minutes. Only in the second half did the numbers rise noticeably, yet they stayed well below typical summer crowds. The monthly average was around 25 percent occupancy and about eight minutes wait time – a real treat for everyone who loves short lines and relaxed sliding.
The month began in absolute calm. On February 1, average occupancy was just 9.8 percent with an average wait time of 3.6 minutes across the entire park. On February 3, crowds dropped to the month’s absolute low of 1.4 percent and only 1.4 minutes wait time. Until February 6, values mostly stayed between 3 and 8.1 percent. From February 7, occupancy rose to 34.5 percent with an average wait time of 10.6 minutes. The week of February 12–21 brought the most noticeable peaks, especially February 19, with 60.5 percent occupancy and 16.9 minutes average wait time. After that it eased again, though until February 28 (53.8 percent / 15.6 minutes) the level often remained somewhat elevated. Saturdays were the busiest at 48.6 percent and 14.2 minutes, while Sundays were the quietest with just 15.9 percent and 5.3 minutes.
Influencing Factors: Holidays, School Breaks and Weather
There were no statutory public holidays, but many festive days, such as Weiberfastnacht (Feb. 12), Valentine’s Day (Feb. 14), Rosenmontag (Feb. 16) and various Fasnacht days in Switzerland, shaped the calendar. Crowds on these days ranged between 25 and 60 percent, depending on the combination with school breaks and weather – without a clear pattern from the festive day alone.School vacations had a much stronger impact. At the start of February, only a few students were off (2 percent in Saxony-Anhalt, up to 34 percent in eight Swiss cantons). Milder days over 10°C with little rain (Feb. 24–27) reached 15–44 percent. Strong winds over 20 km/h or heavy rain over 40 percent pushed wait times down by 20–30 percent despite vacations.
The Nordic Lights Festival ran almost continuously (Feb. 1–28), supplemented by the Rulantica Lights Night on Feb. 7 and the Scandinavian Sauna Week (Feb. 21–28). On event days with high vacation shares, crowds reached 53–60 percent, while on quiet Lights Festival days, they stayed at 5–15 percent.
Weekly and Daily Rhythm
Mondays averaged 30 percent, Tuesdays 25.3 percent, Wednesdays 20.4 percent, Thursdays 30.8 percent and Fridays 28.9 percent. Saturdays were clearly the busiest at 48.6 percent, and Sundays the quietest at 15.9 percent. Dugdrob and Vildfål showed the shortest waits, with a monthly average of 4 minutes. Quietest on Feb. 3 (1 minute), busiest on Feb. 14 (8.4 minutes). Saturdays 7.5 minutes, Sundays only 2.4 minutes.Hugin and Munin averaged 9.3 minutes, with a peak of 19.4 minutes (Feb. 19/20) and a low of 1 minute (Feb. 3–5). Saturdays 17.2 minutes.
Snorri’s Saga came in at 7.8 minutes, peaking at 21.7 minutes (Feb. 20).
Stormvind reached 14.1 minutes, with a high of 23.3 minutes (Feb. 19), often clearly lower on strong-wind days.
Svalgur Rytt was the second-longest at 15.8 minutes (peak 29.5 minutes on Feb. 19), and Vinter Rytt was the longest at 18 minutes (peak 31.6 minutes on Feb. 28). Best Visit Patterns and Practical Tips
The absolute best days were February 3 (1.4 percent / 1.4 minutes), followed by Feb. 2, 4 and 5, as well as 22 and 25, with under 5 minutes wait time. For Vinter Rytt, Svalgur Rytt and Stormvind, the quietest windows were always 9–10 a.m. and after 8 p.m. Hugin and Munin were especially worthwhile between 9 and 11 p.m. (under 2 minutes).When vacation shares are under 10 percent in France and Switzerland plus cold or wind over 20 km/h, a normal weekday is perfectly relaxed. With over 50 percent French vacations and mild, windless weather, arrive right at opening. Saturdays, Feb. 14–21, were the busiest – Sundays stayed mostly under 10 minutes even then. The first 90 minutes after opening and the last two hours before closing were always golden. Tønnevirvel and Vikingløp worked perfectly as gap-fillers, even at peak times under 3 minutes.
