Toverland is taking a major step toward becoming a full-fledged resort. The popular Dutch theme park has announced a comprehensive investment plan worth €98 million that will gradually transform the park and significantly expand both guest experiences and staff infrastructure in the coming years.
Following the approval of an expanded zoning plan by the Horst aan de Maas municipal council in December of last year, Toverland has now submitted a loan application to the provincial council. The funding combines equity and external financing.
A particular highlight for visitors: A new attraction of a completely different kind is planned on the site of the popular Wiegand bobsled coaster “Maximus’ Blitz Bahn,” deliberately building on the strengths of the existing ride. The final closure date for Maximus’ Blitz Bahn will be announced at a later date.
The atmospheric entrance area, “Port Laguna” will also receive an upgrade. In the zone that currently serves primarily as a strolling and gathering area with souvenir shops, dining options and a game gallery, a new dark ride is planned. The attraction is currently in an early design phase.
Work is already underway behind the scenes: A new workshop is under construction. In addition, a modern “Clubhuis” – a staff complex with offices and break rooms – is planned. With this comprehensive investment plan, Toverland is clearly positioning itself as a growing vacation destination for fans who want more than just a day trip.
