Disney Adventure World does more than transport guests into magical worlds: Behind every backdrop, every boat and every castle lies extraordinary European craftsmanship. Together with nearly 400 artisans and partners from across Europe, Walt Disney Imagineering Paris has created a true masterpiece where traditional craftsmanship meets modern creativity.
The contributors represent the very best of European artisanal traditions – from shipbuilders to iron forgers, from sculptors to royal painters. Their expertise makes Disney Adventure World an experience that impresses through both Disney magic and genuine handcrafted mastery.
One particularly impressive collaboration is with Couach Construction Navale from Arcachon. These French shipbuilders, with over 120 years of experience, developed the floating bases for the three majestic longships in the show “A Celebration in Arendelle.” It’s the first time this renowned company has worked with Europe’s leading tourist destination – bringing together more than 250 highly skilled professionals.
Prelud near Dijon was entrusted with the fine exterior decoration of Kristoff’s boat in the same show. The workshop has been a partner of Disneyland Paris since 1985. Sculptors, painters and carpenters spent over six months working in multiple layers to craft the boat by hand – from the floating base all the way to its launch in the fjord of Arendelle.
Traditional ceramic art also plays a role: Royal Delft from the Netherlands has been guarding the famous Delft Blue since 1653 and contributes hand-painted elements to the enchanted atmosphere. The shade of blue matches the world of Disney Princesses perfectly. The company is an official purveyor to the Dutch Royal House.
UK Loco Ltd. from the United Kingdom is responsible for the imposing Arendelle Castle. The creative engineering firm, with over a century of expertise, has been collaborating with Disneyland Paris for twenty years. It has delivered landmark projects including The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, Toy Story Playland, Crush’s Coaster, Ratatouille: L’Aventure Totalement Toquée de Rémy and, most recently, the impressive Quinjet at Avengers Campus.
The Alsatian metal craftsmanship of Schaffner from Strasbourg gives the majestic entrance canopy of The Regal View Restaurant & Lounge its striking presence. Now in its seventh generation, the family firm forges elegant structures from fire and metal with passion and centuries-old know-how.
Technical innovation comes from Dronisos in Bordeaux. As the official technology partner since 2022, the company’s new aerial and aquatic drones – affectionately nicknamed “Ducks” – bring the magic of light closer to guests than ever before in “Cascade of Lights.”
These exceptional partnerships show one thing: At Disney Adventure World, the craft behind the adventure is every bit as fascinating as the adventure itself.
