As summer draws to a close and the new school year begins, the Disneyland Resort is bringing the joy of its 70th anniversary celebration to the teachers in Anaheim who shape the future and make dreams come true. The Cast Members have collected and donated over 68,000 school supplies for local elementary schools. In addition, they surprised more than 100 educators at Orange Grove Elementary School with free tickets to the anniversary festivities.
Magic for Educators
The Disneyland Resort is bringing the magic of its 70th anniversary celebration to the educators who make dreams come true. To best prepare and empower local educators for the upcoming year, the Cast Members of the Disneyland Resort have worked their magic by teaming up to donate and collect over 68,000 school supplies for elementary schools in Anaheim.
Annual Back-to-School Drive
The annual Back-to-School school supplies drive at the Disneyland Resort brings together Cast Members from across the Happiest Place on Earth to collect and sort thousands of items for local students and teachers. These include crayons, colored pencils, pencils, notebooks, and more. This year marks the largest amount of school supplies ever donated to Orange Grove Elementary School as part of this annual campaign.
Surprise Before School Starts
Before the first day of school, Disney VoluntEARS arrived to distribute the supplies, but they had even more magic in store. During a teacher conference, Disney Ambassador Raul Aquino Rojas and Mickey Mouse surprised over 100 teachers and staff members. They thanked them for their dedication and hard work before inviting them to enjoy the Disneyland Resort's 70th anniversary celebration with free tickets for themselves and a guest.
Long-Term Support
The Disneyland Resort is proud to continue its support for Orange Grove Elementary School, a longstanding relationship that is nearly 20 years old. In addition to the annual Back-to-School supplies drive, the resort partners with the school on the HOLA Readers program. This 12-week annual program encourages young minds to succeed through engaging reading sessions with Disney VoluntEARS, Disney Career Days, and Cinco de Mayo celebrations.
Teacher's Reaction to the Initiative
Lauren Hastings, a sixth-grade teacher at Orange Grove Elementary School, commented on the initiative. “Getting all these supplies and receiving support from Disney for our school community is so exciting,” she said. “We are full of gratitude, and we feel so blessed to receive this support from the Disney VoluntEARS.”
Joy Across Anaheim
The Disneyland Resort is spreading joy throughout Anaheim. Residents are invited to join the fun to show appreciation for the city that the resort calls home. For a limited time, Anaheim residents can visit a Disneyland Resort theme park to experience the excitement of the 70th anniversary celebration with a special 1-day, 1-park ticket for just 70 dollars. Park reservations are required and subject to availability.
