Roland Mack Awarded “Pro Merito” Medal by Council of Europe

Roland Mack has received one of Europe’s highest honors. The owner of Europa-Park was presented with the prestigious “Pro Merito” Medal from the Council of Europe. Secretary General Alain Berset handed over the award during a formal ceremony.

The medal honors individuals who have made outstanding contributions to European values, social cohesion and international understanding. Roland Mack was accompanied by his wife Marianne Mack and his son Michael Mack, Honorary Consul of the French Republic.

The award recognizes his entrepreneurial life’s work and decades of commitment to European cooperation. As a leading figure in the leisure and tourism industry, he has turned Europa-Park into an international flagship project and sustainably strengthened Central Europe as a tourism destination. For many years he has also been a strong advocate for intercultural dialogue and cross-border partnerships.

Secretary General Alain Berset highlighted the special significance of this decision: "The Pro Merito Medal of the Council of Europe has been awarded to judges, politicians, scientists and architects – but never before to an entrepreneur. We are proud to bestow it upon someone who is truly shaping Europe."
