25 Years at LEGOLAND Billund: Anne Frees Faaborg Celebrates Impressive Milestone

Twenty-five years ago it was supposed to be just one season – today, a quarter of a century later, Anne Frees Faaborg is still there with the same passion. The Team Coordinator in Housekeeping at Hotel LEGOLAND is celebrating her 25-year work anniversary on March 9 and perfectly embodies what fans love about LEGOLAND Billund: real teamwork and dedication behind the scenes.

It all started with a simple newspaper note. Anne’s father from Haderslev placed the ad “Hotel LEGOLAND is looking for housekeepers” in front of his then 24-year-old daughter. She applied, took the job and originally planned to return to Southern Jutland after just one season. “LEGOLAND forgot to tell me when that season would actually end,” she says today with a big grin – exactly 25 seasons later.

What has kept her here? The incredible sense of togetherness. As Team Coordinator she likes to start her daily briefings for the housekeeping team with humor and good vibes. “It simply makes going to work nicer and greeting guests with a genuine smile when you begin the day with a little fun,” she explains. And that feeling is exactly why she has stayed in the same hotel and the same department all these years: “I’ve stayed because of my colleagues and the great camaraderie that runs through the entire hotel and park.”

Anne is especially proud of how her profession has developed over the past 25 years. Once somewhat underestimated, housekeeping is now recognized across all departments as truly indispensable. “We don’t just clean. Every single function here at LEGOLAND contributes to giving our guests a really good experience,” she emphasizes. Her own thoroughness was once literally written on her back during a workplace satisfaction course – a compliment she rightly wears with pride.

In her private life, Anne also lives in community: In Ølgod she has been an active Scout for over 40 years and leads a children’s group once a week. “The kids think it’s super cool that I work at LEGOLAND. When they found out, I suddenly became the star,” she says with a smile.

Will there be another 25 years? Anne hesitates for a moment: “My body probably couldn’t handle another 25 years. Otherwise I would love to stay.”

The anniversary will be celebrated with a reception on Monday, March 9, at 11:00 a.m. in the Multihuset conference area of Hotel LEGOLAND. A story that proves: The real heroes of a theme park are often the ones who make sure with heart and thoroughness every single day that everything is perfect.
