Bluey fans, get ready for one of the most delightful and creative stunts in recent theme park history! Alton Towers Resort has just unveiled a massive 20 × 15 meter portrait of Bluey dressed as her beloved granny alter ego Janet – entirely constructed from exactly 11,494 cans of beans. The impressive artwork, which took only 18 hours to build, now sits proudly on the park’s iconic lawn right next to CBeebies Land.
It’s the perfect kick-off to a huge milestone: On March 28, 2026, “Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies!” will officially open as the world’s first real Bluey roller coaster. The family-friendly attraction takes little ones and their parents on a joyful journey through Bluey’s backyard and directly references the fan-favorite “Grannies” episode, in which Bluey and Bingo dress up as the mischievous grannies Janet and Rita and cause all kinds of bean-related chaos.
Howard Ebison, Vice President of Alton Towers Resort, says: “Bluey the Ride: Here Come the Grannies! is all about celebrating energy, play and those everyday moments families love about the show. The ‘Grannies’ episode is a firm favorite with our guests, so creating a giant Bluey made from more than 11,000 bean cans felt like the perfect way to mark the countdown to opening day. It’s playful, unexpected and unmistakably Bluey – and we can’t wait to welcome families from March 28.”
Natasha Spence from BBC Studios is equally thrilled: “‘Grannies’ is an iconic episode of Bluey. Fans instantly associate beans with Bluey and Bingo dressing up as Janet and Rita. Bringing this fantastic on-screen detail to life in such an imaginative way truly celebrates the countdown to the opening. We’re delighted to be working with the team at Alton Towers.”
In addition to the new coaster, all existing Bluey experiences remain: the popular meet-and-greet with Mum (Chilli), Dad (Bandit), Bluey and Bingo, plus the live show in Big Fun Showtime. As an extra highlight, the resort announced plans for additional Bluey-themed rooms at the CBeebies Land Hotel. This makes Alton Towers Resort the ultimate destination for preschool families and Bluey fans this spring.
