Djurs Sommerland has concluded its most visited season ever, with 885,000 guests. Despite weather-related challenges in the peak season, the park exceeded all expectations. High guest satisfaction, strong new features, and investments in new experiences contributed to the success. The season ended with the most visited autumn holidays, attracting more than 135,000 visitors. After nine well-attended days in the autumn holidays, Scandinavia's largest summerland closed a season with record-high satisfaction.
Successful Investments and Concepts
Large investments and new concepts created growth. More than 25 million Danish kroner flowed into "Camino del Sol," a 500-meter-long themed adventure path in the park's Mexicoland. Extended opening hours and new concepts during Easter and autumn holidays received great acclaim from guests. These three novelties had a different character than traditional attractions like roller coasters or carousels, yet proved a huge success. "The three novelties were a huge success, even though they have a different character than a traditional novelty like a roller coaster or carousel. Together with an exceptionally high guest satisfaction, we can now look back on a fantastic record season in 2025. We are both proud and grateful for that," added Henrik B. Nielsen.
Exciting Season Developments
The season at Djurs Sommerland was marked by exciting developments. Several new measures were introduced, which were received overwhelmingly well by guests. CEO Henrik B. Nielsen emphasized that strong novelties, satisfied guests, highly ambitious employees, and a constant focus on park development came together in synergy. Setting a visitor record in a year with a rainy summer underscores the park's attractiveness for Danish and foreign families with children. "We had a season where everything merged into a higher unity—strong novelties, satisfied guests, employees with high ambition levels and a constant focus on park development. That we simultaneously set a visitor record in a year with a rainy summer says something about the attractiveness of Djurs Sommerland among Danish and foreign families with children," said CEO Henrik B. Nielsen. The weather caused some unevenness but did not impair the success.
Challenges from Rain
Despite a rainy July, visitor numbers remained high. Threatening weather forecasts, local cloudbursts, and 90 to 100 millimeters of rain in Nimtofte did not deter families with children from their traditional outings. The season began with sunny Easter days and ended with well-attended autumn holidays. "Magical Halloween" and "Djurs Sommerland After Dark" drew more than 135,000 guests over the nine opening days.
New Concept in Autumn Holidays
The autumn holidays culminated in a new concept. For the first time, "Magical Halloween" was extended with "Djurs Sommerland After Dark," where the park stayed open until 9 p.m. Lights, colors, sounds, and attractions in the dark created a special atmosphere. Guest reactions were overwhelmingly positive, and many described the experiences as magical and something completely new in Denmark. "After Dark" acted as a magnet and will be further developed. "After Dark was a magnet. It is absolutely fantastic that we have created a concept where guests can experience Djurs Sommerland in a completely new way after dark—we will definitely develop that further," said Henrik B. Nielsen.
Plans for the Future
Djurs Sommerland is already planning the next season. The park will open again for Easter 2026, even if the date falls early. New investments are in preparation to make Djurs Sommerland a destination of the future. As part of the long-term strategy, the Djurs Sommerland Holiday Resort is under development, with its first stage of 125 accommodation units expected to be completed in 2028. The season has just ended, but at Djurs Sommerland, they are already looking forward to welcoming guests to another season full of magical experiences.
