The countdown is on for a true legend. Euro-Mir at Europa-Park is heading into its final season. In 2026, fans will get one last chance to ride the 28-meter-high spinning coaster from 1997 before it is expected to close permanently next winter. An icon is saying goodbye – but an exciting new successor is already planned for the very same spot in 2028.
As Europa-Park announced on its social media channels, 2026 will mark the last operating year for the popular ride. “It’s time to say goodbye to a real icon,” the park stated. An exact closing date has not yet been revealed, but it should be announced soon.
Still, there’s plenty of reason to be excited: A brand-new family coaster will open in the same location in 2028. The space theme will stay, and the iconic towers will return in a similar form – although they will be rebuilt for technical reasons. The new attraction will be built by the park’s sister company, Mack Rides.
Europa-Park owner Roland Mack is highlighting the opportunities that come with technological progress: “This allows us to take advantage of the rapid advancements in roller coaster construction and offer our guests unique experiences well into the future.” Intensive discussions with the European Space Agency (ESA) about a possible collaboration are also underway.
The new space area will no longer be part of the current Russian-themed section. Additional attractions are planned for the area as well.
Many fans are particularly hoping that the famous trance soundtrack by Christian Steiger and Ben Hosenseidl will be preserved. It has given Euro-Mir its cult status for years, both in the queue and during the spiral lift.
Europa-Park will keep everyone updated via its social media channels — stay tuned!
