Heide Park Resort is giving its iconic Big Loop roller coaster brand-new trains – and Technical Ride Manager Björn already has promising news: “You sit outstandingly well in these trains!”
The new trains deliberately echo the look of the original 1980s trains, delivering a retro feel while being completely state-of-the-art underneath. The highlight of the upgrade is the new restraint system featuring flexible vests. These conform closely to the rider’s body, hold guests much more securely in their seats, and better absorb the lateral forces that come with the now over 35-year-old track.
Björn has already taken test rides and is thrilled with the comfort. The trains are currently being assembled, and at the end of February, the first test runs will take place together with the manufacturer. For the 2026 season opening, the new trains will be fully ready – so every fan can experience for themselves just how comfortable the classic looping coaster has become.
