Disney fans, get ready! Fresh new cast member costumes are bringing extra magic behind the scenes at Walt Disney World. The Disney Live Entertainment Costuming Team has created several collections that are not only functional but packed with storytelling and delightful little details. They're exactly what fans who love spotting the finer touches on their next visit have been waiting for.
Leading the way are the new outfits for parking and auto plaza cast members. Costume designer Nicole crafted a design featuring the iconic Walt Disney World Mickey Globe logo combined with sketches of famous resort vehicles — from classics like Herbie the Love Bug all the way to the futuristic TRON Lightcycle / Run. Raglan sleeves give plenty of movement, while the epaulettes add practical functionality. Every detail was thoughtfully chosen with input from actual cast members.
“Bringing more Disney storytelling to the parking costumes was very important to us,” Nicole explained. “We tried to find the best balance between past, present, and future with the vehicles and iconography, hoping they’d bring smiles and fond memories to both cast and guests.”
At EPCOT, The Land Pavilion is also getting a stylish refresh. Some of the unique new costumes feature an abstract, Impressionist print of the pavilion’s original icon, inspired by the windswept art throughout The Land. Costume designer Josh wanted to honor EPCOT’s vintage nostalgia: “We tried to find ways to weave that classic EPCOT story into these costumes while still respecting the individual aesthetics of each area and role.”
Fun tip for your next visit: Make sure to check out the beautiful mural on the Living with the Land ride loading platform — it was the main inspiration for the entire look of these costumes!
The outdoor vending cast members at Magic Kingdom are getting new looks as well. Their blue tops feature a custom chambray-inspired print with artwork drawn from fireworks and the natural flora found throughout the different lands. Hidden detail alert: If you look closely, you’ll spot various Hidden Mickeys strategically placed throughout the shirt – pure Disney magic!
All the new costumes use updated performance fabrics with stretch and UPF protection. They were developed through close collaboration with cast members, including feedback sessions, wear tests, try-ons, and role shadowing.
“We’re constantly sharing what we learn, and when one of us succeeds, it’s a win for everyone as we incorporate those insights into future projects,” says Josh. “Whether it’s fabric, design, or style, it all helps us achieve our main goal: making the cast experience better in every detail.”
