Universal Epic Universe January 2026: 86-Minute Waits on Jan 2 – Just 38 Minutes on Jan 11

Universal Epic Universe delivered highly contrasting crowd levels in January 2026. January 2 saw the highest demand of the month, with 91 percent capacity and an average wait time of 86 minutes. Just nine days later, on January 11, the park was remarkably quiet with only 31 percent capacity and an incredibly low average wait of 38 minutes – the quietest day of the entire month.

The month started moderately on New Year’s Day with 63 percent capacity and 58 minutes average wait. The bridge day on January 2 brought a massive surge. Crowds remained elevated until January 5 before dropping noticeably in the second week, hitting the absolute low on January 11. Demand then slowly rose again but stayed mostly average to slightly elevated. Holidays like Lee-Jackson Day (Jan 9) and Martin Luther King Jr. Day (Jan 19) produced only average crowds.

A clear weekday pattern emerged: Fridays were surprisingly the busiest, with 61 minutes average wait at 60 percent capacity – busier than Saturdays (56 minutes) or Sundays (54 minutes). Mondays averaged 59 minutes, Tuesdays 58 minutes, Wednesdays 56 minutes and Thursdays 55 minutes.

The daily pattern is pure gold for planning: At 9 a.m. waits started low at 40 minutes (51 percent capacity). They rose to 57 minutes by 10 a.m., peaked at 69–70 minutes around 11 a.m.–noon and stayed high until 4 p.m. From 8 p.m. onward they dropped significantly – just 43 minutes at 8 p.m., 32 minutes at 9 p.m. and only 26 minutes at 10 p.m. The best windows for short waits were clearly early morning at 9 a.m. and evenings after 8 p.m.

Individual attractions showed strong differences. Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry topped the list with a monthly average of 155 minutes. Peaks hit 212 minutes on January 2 and 242 minutes on January 8; the quietest days were January 10 and 11, with 98 and 105 minutes. Single Rider reduced the average to 138 minutes (saving 17 minutes), sometimes significantly more.

Mine-Cart Madness followed closely at 152 minutes on average. The longest waits were 240 minutes on January 4 and 238 minutes on January 5; January 11 saw only 119 minutes. Single Rider was a total game-changer here, dropping the average to just 26 minutes – a saving of 126 minutes. Mario Kart: Bowser's Challenge averaged 83 minutes, Hiccup's Wing Gliders 57 minutes, Stardust Racers 40 minutes and Yoshi's Adventure 38 minutes. Curse of the Werewolf came in at 54 minutes (Single Rider only 30 minutes) and Dragon Racer's Rally at 44 minutes.

Shorter attractions stayed manageable even on busy days: Monsters Unchained: The Frankenstein Experiment and Constellation Carousel both averaged 23 minutes (Single Rider on the former just 5 minutes), Fyre Drill only 9 minutes and Bowser Jr. Challenge 8 minutes. The most efficient days were January 11, 14 and 10, with noticeably shorter waits across all major rides.

Practical tips for your visit: Aim for quieter mid-month days like January 11. Always start at 9 a.m. opening when waits are lowest everywhere. Use Single Rider without fail on headliners like Harry Potter and the Battle at the Ministry and Mine-Cart Madness, especially on Fridays and days above 60 percent capacity. Return to the big rides after 8 p.m. when lines are often cut in half. Avoid the 11 a.m.–3 p.m. window on busy days. With smart planning, you can easily tackle the entire park in one day – even in winter, Universal Epic Universe remains highly doable and absolutely thrilling.
