On March 28, it's finally time at LEGOLAND Billund: Denmark’s first dueling roller coaster opens its gates. To kick things off there’s a real highlight – the very first official race on Minifigure Speedway, where exclusive LEGO Pokémon sets are up for grabs.
The first 12 guests who line up at the gates on opening day get the once-in-a-lifetime chance to compete head-to-head in two teams. Team Legends or Team All Stars? The winning team claims the title and each member receives an exclusive LEGO Pokémon box featuring Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise (#72153). Runners-up each take home a LEGO Pikachu (#72152).
“Minifigure Speedway is a completely unique attraction, as it is the first of its kind in Denmark. We’ve been incredibly excited to present it,” says Michael Ottesen, Director of LEGOLAND Billund. He adds that it represents one of the largest investments the park has made in recent years.
The new family coaster impresses with strong specs: It reaches a top speed of 57 km/h on a 263-meter track. The ride lasts about 75 seconds and runs both forward and backward. Riders get a great view of the 12-meter-tall Roxie figure from their cars.
A new Roxie minifigure mascot will also be on hand on opening day to greet guests personally.
Those who want to participate should line up at the main entrance in one of the two team queues. Each team consists of six people, and the race starts at 9:15 a.m. Important: Places cannot be shared, and the line can only be left briefly for restroom visits.
It’s shaping up to be an exciting start to the new season for all roller coaster and LEGO fans!
