January 2026 at Phantasialand delivered a classic seasonal pattern with extreme contrasts: The month kicked off with heavy crowds, then quickly turned into a paradise for coaster fans who wanted to ride almost without waiting. On January 2, the park reached 71 percent capacity with an average wait time of 24.7 minutes across all attractions. By January 15, capacity had dropped to just 10 percent and waits to only 8.1 minutes. Toward the end of the month, numbers rose slightly again but stayed well below opening levels. For real enthusiasts, this was the perfect mix of holiday energy and relaxed coaster days.
The reasons for these fluctuations were obvious. January 2 combined a nationwide bridge day for 100 percent of the population with Christmas vacations for all students across Germany – resulting in the busiest day of the month. January 5 (62.2 percent) and January 6 (47.9 percent, Epiphany) still benefited from remaining vacation periods. From January 7 onward, vacation shares dropped rapidly, and many days saw only 14.9 to 35.7 percent capacity. Days with high vacation and holiday shares were consistently busier than regular weekdays.
Weather played a significant additional role. On very cold and rainy days with strong wind, attendance often stayed noticeably lower. January 9, with 4.4 degrees, 76.1 percent rain and 50 km/h wind, brought only 14.9 percent capacity. In contrast, the mild January 17, with 8.3 degrees, just 4.7 percent rain and light wind, attracted 66.4 percent of visitors. Especially windless, dry days above freezing point saw clearly higher turnout.
The weekly and daily rhythm was also clear. Saturdays averaged 62 percent capacity and 21.1 minutes waiting, Sundays followed with 59.9 percent and 20 minutes. Thursdays were the emptiest, with only 15.8 percent capacity and 9.4 minutes waiting. Within a day, crowds built up from 12 p.m., peaked between 3 and 5 p.m. at 44 to 47 percent, and then dropped again. On quiet weekdays in the middle of the month, wait times stayed under 10 minutes all day long.
The attractions showed clear favorites. Taron topped the list with an average wait of 47.5 minutes – 80.2 minutes on January 2, up to 74.1 minutes on Saturdays. F.L.Y. (37.6 minutes average), Maus-au-Chocolat (34.6 minutes), Winja’s Force and Winja’s Fear (around 34 minutes each), and Crazy Bats (30.3 minutes) were highly sought-after on busy days. Black Mamba averaged 28.9 minutes, and Colorado Adventure 25.2 minutes. Even on quieter days like January 15, Taron’s wait dropped to just 23.5 minutes – a true dream value. The smaller rides like Bolles Flugschule, Wupi’s Wabi Wipper or Chiapas – DIE Wasserbahn stayed almost constantly at 5 minutes.
The best visit days were January 15, 19, 20, 21 and 22, with only 10 to 12 percent capacity and waits under 9 minutes. January 9 and 12 were also extremely quiet. Anyone wanting to ride Taron, F.L.Y., Winja’s Force or Black Mamba multiple times without long lines was perfectly placed on these empty mid-month weekdays. On Saturdays and Sundays it paid off to arrive early or stay until after 7 p.m., when waits dropped noticeably again.
In summary, January 2026 at Phantasialand was a month with a clear early peak due to vacations and holidays, followed by many wonderfully quiet days. Those who could plan flexibly and targeted the empty weekdays in the second half of the month experienced the park almost to themselves – with minimal waits on all highlights and plenty of space on the pathways.
