Stealth Turns 20: Thorpe Park Throws Sky-High Birthday Celebration

Thorpe Park fans are in for an unforgettable treat as the park’s legendary Stealth roller coaster marks its 20th birthday in spectacular fashion.

While professional abseilers prepared the iconic 205-foot (62.5-meter) ride for the new season, they paused high above the ground to throw a mini birthday party in the sky – complete with party hats and a birthday cake. Suspended against the towering track, this daring display created a stunning visual tribute to one of the UK’s most beloved thrill rides.

Since its opening in March 2006, Stealth has been a firm favorite among thrill-seekers. The ride blasts riders from 0 to 80 mph in under two seconds and still holds the world record for the fastest acceleration of any roller coaster.

The celebrations aren’t just happening in the air though. To share the excitement with guests, the first 20 visitors born in March 2006 will receive a free Stealth Fastrack Pass, giving them the chance to ride the record-breaking attraction in true VIP style.

“For 20 years, Stealth has towered over the Thorpe Park skyline and is instantly recognizable as one of the UK’s most iconic roller coasters,” said Neil Poulter, VP of Thorpe Park. “We wanted to celebrate its 20th birthday in a way that was as bold and unforgettable as the ride itself — and a birthday party at 205 feet certainly delivers that! We can’t wait to welcome guests back to the park to join the celebrations.”
