Life-Size LEGO Alpine F1 Race Car Unveiled at LEGOLAND Deutschland

What happens when a real Formula 1 moment from Miami suddenly turns up right in the middle of the LEGOLAND® Deutschland Resort — life-size and built from LEGO® bricks? Fans, families, and motorsport enthusiasts have reason to be excited: In Günzburg, a spectacular F1® race car of the BWT Alpine F1® Team built from LEGO bricks has been unveiled, the same one that turned heads at the drivers' parade of the Formula 1® Miami Grand Prix 2025.

From the racing spectacle of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix 2025 to the LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort, the nearly scale-accurate large model is made of almost 400,000 LEGO bricks and weighs about 1.5 tons. Guests can get a close look at the imposing LEGO vehicle and snap souvenir photos. The race car made its first major appearance at the drivers' parade of the Formula 1 Miami Grand Prix 2025 on May 4, 2025. Instead of waving from the truck as usual, all 20 Formula 1 drivers steered 10 driveable LEGO large models themselves around the track. As soon as the drivers took the wheel, the LEGO race was on — complete with close calls and minor collisions. In the end, the BWT Alpine F1 Team drove the car that secured "first place" on the parade lap, and it can now be seen at the LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort.

"I am delighted that starting today we can showcase this unique LEGO F1 race car here at the LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort. What makes it special is that our guests can clearly see the marks of its run on the Formula 1 track in Miami. I can't wait to see our guests' faces when they stand in front of the large model for the first time and discover all the details. The little ones see their favorite toy life-size; the grown-ups, a piece of F1 motorsport history. Exactly these kinds of shared family moments define a visit to our resort," says Manuela Stone, managing director of the LEGOLAND Deutschland Resort.

The unveiling in Günzburg was action-packed. Together with Manuela Stone, F1 ACADEMY driver Esmee Kosterman, and young drivers from RC Günzburg and MAC Königsbrunn, the life-size LEGO Alpine F1 race car was presented. In 2026, Kosterman will race as the first LEGO-supported driver for LEGO Racing in the F1 ACADEMY, which supports young women drivers on their path into top-level motorsport. Her Tatuus race car with starting number 32 is fielded by the Dutch team MP Motorsport. Celina Goldschmid of RC Günzburg delivered the decisive moment of the unveiling: Driving a kart, she burst through a wall in a checkered-flag design and revealed the extraordinary LEGO large model.

Enormous handiwork went into the 10 large models. The impressive masterpieces of design and engineering were created at the LEGO plant in Kladno, Czech Republic. An experienced team of 26 designers, engineers, and LEGO model builders spent more than 22,000 hours on the vehicles. Each model is nearly a 1:1 scale Formula 1 race car, consists of almost 400,000 LEGO bricks, weighs about 1,500 kilograms, and can reach up to 20 kilometers per hour. Even the smallest details were rendered true to the original — from the sponsor logos to real Pirelli tires.

The vehicle is on display during the LEGO Festival, which ends Aug. 30. Until then, families build, dance, play, and tinker in five interactive festival zones. In the Thrill Zone, guests swap tires against the clock in the Brick Stop Challenge and soak up real race-day atmosphere at the "Boxengassen Showtime" show. Anyone who wants can become a race engineer for a day and pit self-built LEGO race cars against one another.
