Universal Florida Moves Discount Store Into Fast & Furious Shop

The UOAP x UOTM discount store is leaving the Brown Derby on Thursday, September 3, and setting up in the former Custom Gear Store in the San Francisco area of Universal Studios Florida. Guests still don't know what will replace Fast & Furious: Supercharged or when a big successor might arrive. The attraction permanently closed in August, and Universal has not named one. Something new is moving into part of the building anyway.

At least a piece of the space Fast & Furious: Supercharged left behind at Universal Orlando Resort is getting a new job immediately. The attraction permanently closed last month and freed up a substantial area in an established part of the park. Universal has not announced what will take its place. Guests will find the relocated discount store.

UOAP x UOTM is the discount store that gives Universal Orlando Resort Annual Passholders access to discounted merchandise, including items that were previously found elsewhere in the resort. As of September 3, it is no longer in the Brown Derby. It operates from the former Custom Gear Store in San Francisco, right at a location tied to the closed attraction.

Fans waiting for the big Fast & Furious replacement should keep waiting. Universal is putting at least part of the former attraction space to use immediately. A larger replacement does not appear to be coming anytime soon. The current setup could remain for the foreseeable future.

Universal has not named any larger plans for the building after the permanent closure. Rather than leave every guest-accessible part unused, the company is using the available retail space. The discount store becomes the first confirmed reuse tied to Fast & Furious: Supercharged. That does not mean the entire Fast & Furious building is meant to become a merchandise location. The larger question is still open.

Fast & Furious: Supercharged was among the more controversial attractions at Universal Studios Florida. With the August closure, it is gone for good. A potentially valuable opportunity opened at the same time. Unlike the exit of a smaller attraction, a substantial building and the surrounding grounds are now available. Speculation started immediately about what Universal might put there someday. Guests should not expect Universal to rush in another large attraction next.

The discount store's relocation suggests Universal wants to use parts of the site temporarily or semi-permanently while it figures out what comes next. If Universal does not announce something sooner than expected, the store could stay in its new San Francisco home for quite some time. The attraction may be gone. Universal is not immediately clearing every space to start building a successor. A transitional phase is taking shape.

Fans have not stopped guessing. Several Universal brands keep coming up in rumors and fan talk about the former Fast & Furious: Supercharged site. Twisters is one possibility that has drawn attention. The franchise would even have history at Universal Studios Florida, because Twister…Ride It Out operated there for years before it closed. Back to the Future also turns up in the speculation. The series was once hugely present with Back to the Future: The Ride, until The Simpsons Ride took its place. Ghostbusters is another name that comes up when people talk about possible park additions. There has even been speculation that Universal could create a flexible attraction space that hosts interchangeable experiences instead of a permanent attraction tied to a single franchise.

Those ideas belong in rumor territory. Universal has not confirmed Twisters, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters or another large attraction as a permanent replacement for Fast & Furious: Supercharged.

Putting the UOAP x UOTM discount store in the former Custom Gear Store gives Universal a practical use for part of the site without locking in the future of the whole building. A large new attraction would demand far more planning, construction and investment. Depending on what Universal ultimately builds, the existing Fast & Furious infrastructure could need extensive renovations or even a still larger overhaul. That process does not have to happen right away.

Universal Orlando Resort has already gone through major changes in recent years, including the opening of Epic Universe in May 2025. The resort continues to evolve. Not every newly available site has to become a construction zone right away. Fast & Furious: Supercharged can remain in this transitional state while Universal weighs its options. If that happens, the relocated discount store in San Francisco is more likely to become a familiar sight than a brief stopgap.

Guests do have a confirmed change to watch. As of September 3, the UOAP x UOTM discount store is moving into the former Custom Gear Store and giving part of the former Fast & Furious area a new purpose shortly after the permanent closure. Anything beyond that is unknown. Universal has not announced a permanent attraction replacement, and there is currently no confirmation that construction of something new is imminent. That leaves plenty of room for speculation. Twisters, Back to the Future, Ghostbusters and a possible flexible attraction space are in the conversation. Universal could ultimately choose something entirely different.

Until an official announcement comes, the discount store is the only confirmed new use of the former Fast & Furious space. It is not the blockbuster replacement many Universal fans are waiting for. The building is not simply sitting completely unused after the closure. Because no immediate attraction replacement is confirmed, this temporary solution could remain far longer than guests first expect.
